Map and Driving Directions

The Core Laboratories for the COBRE in Protein Structure and Function are all located in the Structural Biology Center (SBC) at 2121 Simons Drive on The University of Kansas's West Campus. Visitors should park in the Multidisciplinary Research Building (MRB) parking lot #225 at 2030 Becker Drive, which faces the west entrance of SBC.

Directions to the Structural Biology Center

From Kansas City to the Structural Biology Center via the Kansas Turnpike (I-70):

Exit at East Lawrence (204) exit from I-70, pay toll. Continue to stoplight, turn left onto U.S. 24/40 southbound. Cross the Kansas River bridge, turn right onto Sixth Street. Continue on Sixth Street to Iowa Street (U.S. 59). Turn left (southbound) onto Iowa Street, continue to 19th Street.

At the 19th Street traffic light, turn right onto KU's west campus. At the T intersection, turn left onto Constant Avenue. At the stop sign, turn right onto Becker Drive.

Continue on Becker Drive to the large building on the left (Multidisciplinary Research Building-MRB), turn left into the parking lot and park in the lot on the south side of the building at a parking meter. From the parking lot walk directly east toward the SBC along the sidewalk.

From Topeka to SBC via Kansas Turnpike:

Exit at West Lawrence (202), pay toll. Continue south past Holidome on the left, staying in the left lane, through the underpass and onto Iowa Street (U.S. 59) southbound.

At the 19th Street traffic light, turn right onto KU's west campus. At the T intersection, turn left onto Constant Avenue. At the stop sign, turn right onto Becker Drive.

Continue on Becker Drive to the large building on the left (Multidisciplinary Research Building-MRB), turn left at 2030 Becker Drive into the parking lot and park in the lot on the south side of the building at a parking meter. From the parking lot walk directly east toward the SBC along the sidewalk.

MRB/SBC Parking Lot Rules:

  • Parking is available at parking meters at all times.
  • Parking is free in the Yellow zones of the lot after 4:00 p.m. any day.
  • Parking is free in the Yellow zones all day when school is not in session.
  • If you prefer, or if you have other business on the main campus, meter parking is available in the Park and Ride lot just across from the MRB parking lot. Entrance to the lot is on 23rd Street (Clinton Parkway), west of Iowa Street. Free bus service is available every ten minutes from this lot to the main campus.
